DSC_0401 (2)Westfield, IN—Westfield Youth Sports Incorporated (WYSI) will be celebrating its 6th annual Baseball Opening Day Ceremonies this Saturday, April 15 on Diamond 16 at Grand Park. The festivities begin at 8:30 a.m.

The team parade kicks off the event followed by a brief presentation by WYSI board members and the national anthem performed by the Oak Trace Elementary Choir. The Spencer Lancaster award will also be presented during the ceremony.

Spencer Lancaster was a WYSI player and student at Oak Trace Elementary who lost his life to brain cancer in 2011 at eight years old. During his life and battle with cancer, he was a true inspiration to everyone who met and knew him. The Spencer Lancaster award was created to honor his memory.

Also participating in the ceremonies are the Westfield Police Department’s Honor Guard presenting the Colors and Disc Turners DJ Service is providing the sound. The event also features a silent auction with proceeds benefitting WYSI programs.
