WESTFIELD, IN—Indy Eleven is taking to the indoor fields at the Grand Park Events Center this week to begin its 2017 preseason training. The team will take advantage of the full scope of Grand Park sports campus, scheduling practices between the indoor facility, which opened last summer, and the wide expanse of outdoor fields available across preseason.
The new indoor fields at Grand Park allow for Indy Eleven to keep its preparations entirely local in 2017, rather than having to venture out west to Arizona as they did during the club’s first three years.
“We’re excited to welcome Indy Eleven for preseason training at the Grand Park Events Center,” said Westfield Mayor Andy Cook. “Grand Park has enjoyed several years as the official training ground for ‘Indiana’s Team’ and the new indoor facility allows us to expand that role even further.”
“The ability to utilize the Events Center marks a step forward not just for the great relationship between Indy Eleven and Grand Park, but for our team’s ability to prepare for another successful NASL season,” said Indy Eleven President Jeff Belskus.
Across the next two weeks, Indy Eleven practice sessions, which are open to the public, are scheduled to take place from 10-11:30 a.m. on Feb. 16-17 and Feb. 20-23 in advance of its first preseason game at Butler University on Friday, Feb. 24. The team’s next preseason game is scheduled for inside the Grand Park Events Center on Thursday, March 2 at 2 p.m. against the Kansas City-based Swope Park Rangers.
In all, Indy Eleven will train at Grand Park for six weeks as the team prepares for the 2017 NASL season opener, set for March 25 at the San Francisco Deltas. More information about Indy Eleven and their full preseason schedule can be found at www.IndyEleven.com.
